Saint Maur's Middle School Students Engage in the Rich Learning at Futaba

In November, Saint Maur's Middle School Student Council members embarked on a transformative experience, spending an entire school day at our neighboring sister school, Futaba.

Reflecting on this enriching day, our students appreciated the unique aspects that distinguish Futaba from Saint Maur. Notable distinctions included larger class sizes, wearing indoor shoes, teaching delivered in Japanese, and the practice of enjoying lunch within classrooms rather than a cafeteria setting. A standout feature emphasized by one student was Futaba being an all-girls school, offering a wealth of qualities for learning. As our Middle School students delved into the exchange, they enthusiastically shared insights gained across various subjects, including Math, English conversation and grammar, History, and Japanese.

Beyond the academic realm, they embraced the opportunity to understand the daily operations of a Japanese school like Futaba. Heartwarming reflections emerged, underscoring the power of kindness and friendship transcending language barriers. Students expressed gratitude for the warm reception at Futaba and marveled at the shared values despite the differences between the two schools. In capturing their individual highlights, our students painted a vivid picture of learning and connection. From learning the art of "習字" (calligraphy) to experiencing lunchtime friendships and playful interactions during P.E., each moment left a long lasting mark on our students. One student even rated the day an "11 out of 10" due to the welcoming atmosphere at Futaba.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Yokohama Futaba Junior High School for providing our Middle School students with this invaluable opportunity for cultural exchange and mutual growth.
