Grade 8 Overnight Trip: Fun, Adventure, and Reflection Under the Sun
The Grade 8 Overnight Trip is an opportunity for students to have fun, get outdoors, disconnect from their phones and reflect on their unique skills. This camp is both an Educational Excursion and Day of Reflection wrapped into three great days.
It's also a chance for sunshine on our faces, sand and cool water on our toes, and often, mosquito bites in our arms. When Mrs. Mansson, Head of Religious Studies at Saint Maur and Grade 8 Camp Leader, asked the Grade 8 students what they enjoyed about the Overnight Trip, they had so much to say! Here are some of their favorite memories from camp:
"The walks were so calm and relaxing it was so nice, especially in the morning, I never usually wake up so early but even though I woke up at 5:30, it felt nice. I think it was nice to make new friends and talk to new people. Finally the dancing! It was kind of the most fun part of camp."
"If you are new student, you must join this camp to get closer with other friends. Super cool."
"I also learned that time can be spend usefully without a phone."
"I liked the campfire, and I learned about the seashells."
"The advice I will give to next year's 8th Grade is to go on the morning beach walk because it is fun."
"What I like about our Chiba trip is that Mr. Green's meals were really, really good and the fresh air at the sea was really nice. I also liked how everyone was playing together."
"Something I liked about the Chiba Trip was the food. It was so delicious and you could get seconds and thirds! Another fun part was that I was able to play sports outside for a long time."
"I learned a lot about the people in the rest of my reflection group and it was fun to make the Olympics introduction. What I would recommend for the people next year is to seek crabs on the first day at the beach, there are a lot of them."
