Success for Saint Maur Students at the YSF-FIRST 2025 Conference in Yokohama

Two Grade 12 students (Hyunseo and Chengyou) attended the annual Forum of International Research in Science and Technology (YSF-FIRST 2025) on Saturday 25th March hosted by Yokohama Science Frontier High School.

Students from eight schools from around Japan and from the University of Putra, Malaysia (UPS) participated. Students made poster presentations of their research projects to a large audience of specially invited professors, teachers and staff, including our Principal, Mr. Jones and the Head of Science, Dr. Suzuki. There were opportunities for exchange and discussion between the students as well as a very informative Keynote lecture by Associate Prof. Dr. Normi Mohd Yahaya from UPS. The standard of the research and presentations was excellent and provided our students with experience of poster conferences in a similar format to those held at postgraduate level.

Our two Grade 12 students made excellent presentations and received positive feedback from their audience. They were outstanding ambassadors for our school and by interacting with an international audience, demonstrated that they are truly Global Citizens. We are particularly proud to announce that one of our students, Hyunseo, received an award for ‘Excellence in Research’ on the effect of Calcium chloride concentration on growth of Hordeum vulgare L. seedling roots. Both Hyunseo and Chengyou intend to continue their study of Science upon graduation from Saint Maur International School in the summer.
