A feeling of excitement had been building up for some time within the Science Department due to the fact that with the state of emergency being lifted, we would be able to once again host a lecture by a world-class researcher for the benefit of our IB students. Our guest this time was Dr Aki Minoda, Team Leader of the Laboratory for Cellular Epigenomics at RIKEN’s Center for Integrative Medical Sciences.
The Saint Maur Cougars boys football team kicked off their season this Saturday with an emphatic win over CAJ, hitting the Knights for seven. This is seen as a significant improvement from last season which saw the Cougars string together a number of lackluster performances, including a 4-1 loss to a strong CAJ side.
On Tuesday, March 8, a team of 17 Saint Maur students, from Grades 6-12, participated in Math Field Day. Math Field Day is a competition involving 13 schools from the Kanto Region in which students display their knowledge and enthusiasm for Mathematics.
Valentines Day was made much sweeter (no pun intended) with the Valentines’ grams that everyone received. The Valentines’ grams were a massive success, selling over 250 grams in the span of two short weeks. It was truly heartwarming to see that cards were bought by the entire school community, from elementary to teachers and staff.
When the sisters who established Saint Maur International School in 1872 arrived in Japan, it was with the understanding that they would never be allowed to return back to their homeland. As missionaries, they had embraced a life of sacrifice and service to others. It was only in later years that the rules changed.
Our art exhibition at the stunning, historic Berrick Hall is on display now! The exhibition elegantly combines the features of 1930's European architecture with our students artworks showcasing a range of painting techniques and 3D projects.
With the changing of the Season in Japan came the changing of the High School Student Council (HSSC) Executive group. Yesterday Saint Maur brought back a long standing tradition of the Inauguration Ceremony for the High School Student Council.
The students of 1EO presented an engaging assembly for us on February 4th with the theme, "New Year‘s Resolutions.“ In the assembly, students in the audience were asked what their resolutions are for this year and everyone participated in interactive games.
During the first week of Winter Break, 23 middle schoolers and nine players from Saint Maur's High School boys' and girls' basketball teams participated in a week-long basketball camp.
As we enter the fourth week of our Second Semester, the Saint Maur Charity Committee is proud of its first successful charity projects at the start of 2022 and looks forward to many more to come. The Saint Maur Charity Committee is happy to announce that a new box with donations was sent today to the Philippines in support of Cameleon Association Inc. Philippines.
Saint Maur ended the semester with a festive extravaganza, starting with the incredible Secondary Winter Concert and stunning Art exhibition on Thursday evening.
