As we bid farewell to the Winter Sports Season, the echoes of victory reverberate through the halls of Saint Maur International School. The exhilarating journey reached its pinnacle as our Middle School Basketball Boys A Team soared to new heights, claiming the championship trophy at the fiercely contested Kanto Lower League Tournament.
We are excited to share a glimpse into the vibrant and creative world of our Middle School as we recap the spectacular drama play that unfolded last week Friday.
On Friday, Saint Maur hosted the KPASS Jazz Festival. International schools from all across the Kanto region came to our auditorium to perform with Big Bands and Combos.
Over the last weekend of January, a group of Grade 8 students had a remarkable opportunity to engage in the inaugural TjMUN conference. Across two immersive days, they assumed the roles of various countries, delving into intense discussions on global issues.
On January 24, Grade 7 visited Yokohama Science Frontier High School (YSFH) for their Educational Excursion. After a warm welcome, the students from the two schools collaborated to build miniature rockets (with real fuel!).
On Sunday 14th of January, the Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo hosted their annual Kagamibiraki ceremony. Kagamibiraki (鏡開き, lit. "opening the mirror") is originally a shinto event that involves the breaking of a cake (kagami mochi, 鏡餅) that consists of two round rice cakes placed on top of one another, with a shiny finish that mimics the surface of a round mirror. The superposition of a small mochi on top of the bigger one symbolizes the Yin and the Yang, as well as the passing of a year and the coming of the new one.
Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty. The motto that the Sisters of the Infant Jesus chose for our school continues to be a guiding principle in how we approach education and what we value to instill in our students.
Last Saturday, on the 13th of January, our Saint Maur International School History Bee and Bowl Club showcased academic excellence at the UIA International School of Tokyo.
On Thursday 14th December Saint Maur held its Secondary School Winter Concert & Art Exhibition. Students from all our Secondary School music clubs performed to a packed auditorium of guests, in a wide range of styles.
Celebrate with us as we recount the memorable evening of October 28th, when our school hosted a spectacular Gala Dinner at the prestigious Westin Hotel in Yokohama. The event brought together approximately 120 esteemed guests, including Saint Maur alumni, parents, staff and teachers, for a wonderful evening of music, dining and conversation.
The magic of the festive season at Saint Maur International School started when our community came together on Sunday, November 11th, for an unforgettable Christmas Bazaar. The support and generosity of our incredible parents, teachers, students, alumni and friends transformed the day into a winter wonderland.
